For the folks that don't subscribe to the OLF Classified I have been posting contests there giving away stuff to newer builders and to have some fun and maybe even learn a few things too. It occurred to me that since I am not selling anything in these contests AND that since non-classified subscribers would never even know what was happening in the classifieds that I would post this contest in the main forum. Hope this is OK with our host Lance.

This is a contest to win one pound........(shame on some of you for thinking what you just thought.... :D ) of fret wire.... This is a pound of Stew-Mac's excellent #148 medium wire. It's pretty commonly used and IIRC Stew-Mac's best seller.

The contest is open to newer US based builders only with three or less builds under your belt. This is the honor system so I will accept your word that you are a newer builder. :)

The weiner... will have answered all three multiple choice questions posting in this thread with the correct answers before anyone else AND posted the answers in this thread.

The fret wire is free of charge to the weiner and I will pick-up shipping charges as well which is why, unfortunately, I have to limit this to US builders only.

Question 1) It is a common practice to slightly over radius fret wire before installing in the fret slots, True or False?

Question 2) The part of the fret wire that is inserted into the fret slot is called the:

A) Rib
B) flat
C) Tang

Question 3) Why is it slightly more laborious and usually costs more if having this done by a pro to fret a bound fret board.

A) The tangs have to be undercut
B) Pro repair people are greedy
C) The binding has to be removed first

Good Luck to all! :)
